Mahasamund: Budhram’s identity was created not by his disability but by his self-reliance
Mahasamund. Budhram Sahu, a resident of Lakhanpur, Jhalap in the district, who is 70 percent bone disabled, never let his disability become an obstacle in the path of his dreams. With his hard work and dedication, he not only supported his family but also made his mark as a successful businessman.
Sahu’s inspirational journey started when the Social Welfare Department provided him a motorized tricycle. This tricycle brought a new turn in his life, giving him the opportunity to start his livelihood by selling things like vegetables, mushrooms, tamarind chocolate in the nearby villages. This tricycle became a symbol of his independence and made his life dynamic and financially strong.
Currently, Sahu is rearing 40 ducks and 80 native chickens. His chickens lay eggs every day, which convert into chicks and he gets additional income. Budhram Sahu has proved that disability can never be an obstacle in the path of success. Budhram told that by the Social Welfare Department, he was provided a loan of 95 thousand rupees for poultry farming business. He took full advantage of this opportunity and gradually developed his poultry farming business successfully. The result of his hard work was that he started earning about 15 thousand rupees every month. He repaid the entire amount of his loan along with interest before time, as a result of which the government returned the interest amount to him in the form of subsidy.
