Due to the tremendous response from the customers, the company has planned to increase production. According to reports, the production of Thar Rocks can be increased to 7,500 units in November. Talking about the interiors of the Thar Rocks MX1, to make the ride easy and fun, it is equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, keyless entry with push-button start, manual air conditioning with rear vents, height-adjustable driver’s seat and a USB C charging port. The base variant of the Mahindra Thar Rocks MX1 is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces a maximum power of 162 bhp and a peak torque of 330 Nm. At the same time, a second diesel option is also available. It is a 2.2-litre diesel engine that produces a maximum power of 152 hp and a maximum torque of 330 Nm. Both engines will be equipped with a manual transmission.
As far as the rivals of Mahindra Thar Rocks are concerned, its direct competitors in the Indian market will be the Force Gurkha 5-door and the Maruti Suzuki Jimny. However, both are far behind the Thar 3-door model in terms of sales. At the same price, the Thar Rocks will also compete with many compact SUVs available in the market such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq and Honda Elevate.
