
Bilaspur. A diamond studded gold bracelet worth Rs 3 lakh was stolen from Dr Makhija’s house. The theft was committed by the young woman who worked as a cook in his house. She gave one bracelet to two women of her acquaintance to pledge and the other to sell. After interrogation, the police have arrested five accused including two bullion traders in the case. The case is of Tarbahar police station area.
Actually, Doctor Riya Makhija, resident of Mitra Vihar, had kept a diamond studded gold bracelet at her house, which disappeared a few days ago. On this, she informed her husband, Doctor Lalit Makhija, about this incident. Also told that Hema Dhruv, resident of Sarju Baghicha, who cooks in the house, is suspected of stealing the bracelet. First, he inquired at his level. But, the bracelet was not found. Then he informed the police about the incident. The police registered a case and interrogated Hema, then she started giving evasive answers. Later she informed about stealing the bracelet.
During police interrogation, she told that she had given one bracelet to her neighbour Karuna Rajput (33) and the other to Preeti Singh Rajput (47). After which the police arrested Karuna and Preeti and questioned them. Then it was revealed that one woman sold one bracelet to a bullion trader for 45 thousand rupees.
At the same time, the other woman mortgaged the other bracelet to Santoshi Jewelers in Sadar Bazar for 65 thousand rupees. After questioning both of them, the police also arrested Mungeli’s bullion trader Rajkumar Jain and Santoshi Jewelers’ operator bullion trader Vijay Gandhi, after which the police recovered both the bracelets.
