Major action of Mineral Department, 14 trucks seized for illegal transportation
Raigarh: The Mineral Department of the district today launched a campaign to check the vehicles transporting minerals. In which 14 vehicles were seized and handed over to police custody after they were found to be transporting minerals illegally. Giving more information in this regard, District Mineral Officer Yogendra Singh said that recently Collector Taran Prakash Sinha and Senior Superintendent of Police Sadanand Kumar had held a review meeting and given instructions to take continuous action against illegal transportation of minerals. In this series, a surprise inspection of the vehicles transporting minerals in the district was conducted today by the Mineral Staff, Raigarh. In the inspection, 10 vehicles of minor mineral limestone, 01 vehicle of coal, 02 vehicle of sand and 01 vehicle of Murum, a total of 14 vehicles transporting illegal minerals have been kept in the custody of police station Chakradharnagar.
In the above cases Ch. Punitive action will be ensured under Rule 71 of the Minor Mineral Rules 2015 and Section 21 of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957. District Mineral Officer Mr. Singh said that the mineral contractors/mineral transporters of the district have been directed that transportation of minerals without transit pass is a punishable offence. Therefore, punitive action will be taken against illegal transporters and excavators for doing similar acts again. Under the guidance of Collector Taran Prakash Sinha and Senior Superintendent of Police Sadanand Kumar, for effective control over illegal mining and transportation of minerals in the district, a joint team of mineral, revenue and police staff will run a special campaign and take action according to the rules.
