Make indigenous knowledge a part of geography curriculum

PATNA: Central Universidad de Bihar del Sur (CUSB) vice-president KN Singh on Sunday commented on the inclusion of indigenous knowledge in the scheme of geography studies to make it more useful for academics.
Inaugurating a two-day workshop, Política Educativa Nacional 2020: Curriculum Models and Materials in Geography, jointly organized by CUSB and Vidya Bharati Institute of Higher Education (VBUSS) at the facilities of the Indian Council of Science Research (ICSSR). University team. Singh said the study of geography should be India-centric and should have maximum input of knowledge from different parts of the country.

Appreciated the Geospatial National Policy, 2022, which aims to complete high resolution topographic and cartographic studies by 2030.
Narendra Kumar Taneja, general secretary of VBUSS, in his opening speech described the vastness of ancient knowledge of India and said that most of the inventions and discoveries were modern or were known by Indian philosophers.
Koppela Narayana Prithvi Raju, former director of the Geography Department of Universidad Hindu de Banaras, said: “India is recognized as a superpower because of its wealth of spiritual knowledge. “The Vedas contain not only religious knowledge but also essential knowledge of the contemporary world”.
Earlier, Ravi Kant, Head of Teacher Training Department, CUSB and Director of the Workshop, welcomed the participants and presented the objective of the workshop. Convener Tarun Kumar Tyagi proposed the approval motion.

The participants received prizes in the form of cash, certificates and tablets. The singing team also sang to a minibus for their school. The purpose of the questionnaire was to promote the intellectual development and leadership qualities of young people and to promote inclusion by including schools from lesser known districts.
