Mamata Banerjee will not personally attend the inauguration of community Durga Puja.
Kolkata : Breaking with her annual tradition, West Bengal Chief Minister Manta Banerjee will not physically inaugurate the community Durga Puja this year due to long-term limb injuries and will instead do it virtually from her residence.
Due to injuries, the Chief Minister has been working from her residence in Kalighat in South Kolkata since last month.
“He has decided to virtually inaugurate around 800 community pujas this year,” a cabinet member said. It will begin on Thursday afternoon with the inauguration of the Shribhoomi Community Durga Puja on the northern outskirts of Kolkata, where the chief patron is State Fire Services Minister Sujit Basu. ,
This year the theme of Shribhoomi Pandal is Disneyland.
On Thursday, the Chief Minister is scheduled to virtually inaugurate six community pujas including Shri Bhoomi.
An important meeting of the state cabinet is scheduled to be held at the chief minister’s residence later in the day, where he is expected to give instructions regarding administrative initiatives to be adopted for the upcoming festive season.
The Chief Minister was injured again during her recent visit to Dubai and Spain.(IANS).
