Man arrested for cheating woman of Rs 6.50 lakh
Indore: A Hyderabad man was arrested for defrauding a woman of Rs 6.50 lakh in the name of arranging a job for her son in a European country and sending him there. The accused took the money in three installments but did not give him any appointment letter and cheated him.
Tukoganj police station in-charge Jitendra Singh Yadav said that a woman named Kavita Naval has lodged a complaint that she had contacted the agent of a company to send her son abroad for a job. The agent took Rs 2 lakh as advance amount. He then took Rs 2 lakh as the first installment and then Rs 2.5 lakh from the woman in the second instalment, but did not give her the appointment letter for several days and also switched off his mobile phone.
During investigation, it was revealed that the accused named Madhus Umar was a resident of Hyderabad and the money was transferred to his bank account. The police first informed the bank about the incident and froze the amount. After this, a case was registered against him under section 420 of IPC. A team was sent to Hyderabad to arrest him. The team managed to arrest the accused and brought him to the city. He was presented in the court from where he was sent on one-day police remand. Police are interrogating the accused to know about other such incidents.
