Man arrested for raping and blackmailing woman using private video
Mumbai: Police have arrested a 45-year-old man for allegedly raping a woman and threatening to defame her with a private video shot without her consent. The matter came to light on Friday when the victim, a 38-year-old woman resident of Chembur, contacted the RCF police. He told that he was friends with a person named Uttam Khandagale, a broker by profession, since November 2022.
During this stint, the victim alleged that he forced her to have physical relations despite her refusal.
According to police, the victim’s daughter, who goes to college, found the two together and she expressed her disapproval towards them. The victim told that after this she started maintaining distance from the accused, but he kept following her and also following her and her daughter.
Gradually the insistence turned into threats. The accused man showed the victim some videos which he had shot without her knowledge. He also threatened that if she did not meet him, he would leak the video among her friends and relatives. At first she ignored his threats but later it came to light that Khandgale had shown those pictures and videos to some women in her building.
The police registered an FIR and arrested the accused on Sunday afternoon. He was booked under sections 376 (rape), 376 (2) (n) (repeated rape of the same woman), 354 (d) (stalking), 500 (defamation), 504 (intentional insult), 506 (criminal intimidation). ) has been alleged. ) of the Indian Penal Code.
