Man-eating tiger now kills cow in Wayanad
Kalpetta: The man-eating tiger is back to create fear after attacking and killing a cow in Kallurkunnu, Walkeri at 11 pm on Saturday night. Paw marks found in the area confirm that the cow was killed by the same tiger that killed a granary earlier this month.
The tiger, identified as a 13-year-old male tiger (WWL 45) from Santuario de Vida Silvestre Wayanad, attacked and killed 36-year-old male producer Prajeesh on December 9. However, it still remains elusive. The tiger killed the cow of a resident of Santosh. The incident came to light when Santosh and his family heard the noise of other cows and goats.
When people raised noise, the tiger ran towards the forest. The forest department has started installing traps and cameras in the area to catch the tiger. DFO of South Wayanad said that they have decided to make a trap considering the dead cow as a prey.
A team of 100 members led by Zone North Forest Conservator Jeff de Bosque, KS Deepa and Wayanad South Division Forest Officer Shazna A is searching for the man-eating tiger in Vakeri. On Saturday also a meeting of all the parties was held in Moodakoli. However, residents live in fear as the tiger has not yet been caught or killed.
