Man found on matrimonial site cheats woman of Rs 40 lakh
Bengaluru: A man whom she met on a matrimonial website allegedly married an engineer for Rs 40 lakh.
Sri Kumari (number changed), 31, of Kundanahalli, east of Bengaluru, said Santosh Aalish Suluva had promised to marry her, but he broke her engagement by using his demat account to transfer profits of trading operations. Did it.
On October 29, Kumari met Suluva, of unknown age, on a matrimonial website. Exchanged messages and continued sending text messages.
Several days later, Kumari said Suluva gained her trust by promising to marry her and asked for details of the demat account he was using to trade in the stock market. She told police that Suluva had told her that he was a “professional businessman” and that he would help her improve her portfolio.
Kumari entered the credit of her demat account. Since she was superior, Suluva negotiated in her name and transferred the profits to her account to the value of approximately Rs 38 lakh. He said in his police complaint that Suluva also transferred Rs 2 lakh from Kumari’s banking account and a credit card. Once the money changed hands, all communications stopped. Then Kumari told him that he had seduced her.
The FIR states that all the incidents took place between October 29 and November 24.
The Whitefield police have registered a case against cyber-economic and narcotics crimes (CEN) under sections of the Information Technology Act and IPC.
