Man lost Rs 1.5 crore in land fraud, case registered against 3
Pune: Girish Awhad (47, resident of Baner Road, Aundh) has filed a case against Vishal Ashok Chugera (resident of Wanwadi), Shivam Banwaridas Mahant (resident of Wadgaonsheri) and Manoj Sarasnath Rai (resident of Pimpri) at Nigdi police station. After losing ₹1.5 crore in a land fraud scheme. This incident occurred between July 2019 and November 2023.
Awhad, known to Rai for a decade, was introduced by Rai to Chugera and Mahant in July 2019. At that time, he proposed to sell a plot in Shiraswadi (Taluka Haveli) at double the price within one and a half years. Awhad transferred ₹1.10 crore to Chugera’s bank account through RTGS in 2019, giving ₹17 lakh to Mahant and ₹2.5 lakh as commission to Rai. However, upon Awhad’s attempt to secure the land from the three, he refused to proceed with the transfer.
Realizing that he was a victim of fraud, Awhad filed a case and the Nigdi police is currently investigating the matter.
