Manohar Parrikar School gets its own campus worth Rs 21 crore

Panaji: Manohar Parrikar School of Law, Governance and Public Policy got its campus on the Goa University campus on the birth anniversary of the former CM. Built with a grant-in-aid of Rs 21 crore from the state government and with a built-up area of 5,580 square metres, the new building was inaugurated by Environment Minister Alexio Sequeira on Wednesday.

Sequeira also unveiled a statue of Parrikar on the campus. Goa University Vice-Chancellor Harilal B Menon said the school would offer subjects close to Parrikar’s heart such as law, public administration, women’s studies, social work, tribal studies and disability studies.
“Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chair in Leadership and Governance is attached to this school. Currently, the school offers four major programs – MA in Women’s Studies, MA in Public Administration, Master in Social Work and Post Graduate Degree in Law. Of these programmes, PhD in women’s studies is offered and soon we will offer PhD in other programmes,” Menon said.
He said, six specializations of Master in Social Work are available.

The three-storey building has several staff cabins and toilet blocks apart from classrooms on each floor. In total there are 18 classrooms with a capacity of 40.
