Massive search operation underway to nab Poonch terror attack accused
Jammu (IANS) | A massive search operation to nab the terrorists involved in the attack on an army vehicle in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district continued on Monday. Army sources said 30 people have been detained for questioning in connection with the attack at Bhata Dhurian in Poonch district. Five soldiers were martyred and one was seriously injured in this attack.
The terrorists also took away the weapons of the martyred soldiers.
A portion of the Jammu-Poonch highway was closed for the search operation. It was opened on Sunday.
A large part of the area where the search operation is being conducted is covered with dense forest. Also there are natural caves.
Sources said three or four terrorists who were well-versed in the area were involved in the attack. They used armor-piercing bullets and grenades.
The Director General of the National Security Guard (NSG) and senior officers of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) have also inspected the site where the attack took place.
Speaking to the terrorist attack survivor, who is undergoing treatment at the Udhampur Command Hospital, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Army’s Northern Command Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi said necessary action was being taken to nab the terrorists.
The local people of Rajouri and Poonch districts, who are mostly from the Gujjar and Bakarwal communities, have said that they are with the army. He has openly talked about punishing the accused of terror.
