Medak strongly supports KCR, BRS active again in times of crisis
Sangareddy: The old district of Medak, the birthplace of K.Chandrasekhar Rao and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), stood firmly behind the BRS supremo from the day he decided to launch the movement for statehood.
As predicted, BRS won most of the seats in Medak district and seats in Siddipet, Gajwel, Dubbak, Narsapur, Patancheru, Sangareddy and Zaheerabad. At a time when BRS faced anti-incumbency across the state, BRS took back the electoral districts of Dubbak and Sangareddy from the BJP and Congress respectively. But, in the electoral battle, he lost the seats of Andole, Narayankhed and Medak to Congress.
BJP, which has a single seat in Dubbak, will not have representation in the assembly of this district. Many predicted that BRS would repeat the election results of 2014 and 2018 in 2023. BRS had won 8 seats in both the elections when things were in favor of BRS across the state.
Ever since Chandrashekhar Rao resigned as MLA in 2001 and founded BRS, Medak district has maintained its position in all elections.
Rao had won against Siddipet and Gajwel nine times as MLA and once against Medak as Deputy. Harish Rao has been MLA from Siddipet seven times before. At a time when Chandrasekhar Rao lost the electoral district of Kamareddy Assembly, Gajavel Gaon returned to the Assembly for the third consecutive time with an overwhelming majority of over 45,000 votes.
