Meeting of opposition parties postponed due to Congress: Nitish Kumar

Patna (IANS) | Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday claimed that the meeting of opposition parties, scheduled for June 12, had to be postponed due to the refusal of the top Congress leadership. He said that the presence of the Congress was necessary for the meeting. Kumar said, except the Congress, most of the opposition political parties had agreed to meet in Patna on June 12. But the Congress leadership was not comfortable with the venue. Since, without the oldest party, the meeting had no meaning. I asked them to discuss within the party and then finalize a date. We will coordinate the date with every opposition political party and then decide for the meeting. For the time being, the meeting scheduled on June 12 has been postponed.

When asked about the expected date, Kumar said, “I am thinking that the meeting will happen very soon.”

Sources have said that the Congress is not agreeing on the venue of the meeting as the Congress think tank believes that they will have to face opposition regional parties like AAP in Delhi and Punjab, TMC in West Bengal, K Chandrasekhar Rao-led NRS in Telangana and Akhilesh Yadav is a direct contest in Uttar Pradesh.
