Migrant laborer committed suicide by hanging
Korba. A migrant laborer committed suicide by hanging himself in Misiya village of Pasan area of the district. It is learned that he was upset because of not being able to withdraw the wages from his account. Santram Gond, 48, worked in a boring company in Chennai. For some time he also worked in a factory in Bangalore. At both the places, he had deposited Rs 80,000 received from wages in installments by opening an account in the State Bank of India.
The deceased had returned to his village three months ago. Meanwhile, he felt the need for the deposit. He tried to withdraw money by going to the branch of village Botopal along with his brother Arjun, 35. Could not withdraw money from the bank due to some problem. Earlier also he had tried to withdraw the money. He committed suicide by hanging as soon as he returned home from the bank on the day of the incident. On receiving the information, the police sent the dead body for postmortem. The incident is being investigated.
