Migrant worker from Odisha in coma after accident in Dubai, family members plead for his repatriation
Berhampur: A migrant worker from Odisha went into coma after the bus on which he was traveling met with an accident in Dubai on July 21. The worker has been identified as Raju Mallick.
Raju, a native of Manikyapur village under Khallikote block of Ganjam district, had gone to Dubai in 2021 to work as a daily labourer with an aim to look after his family members. In Dubai, he was working at a company named Alkas RLS Technical Works.
On July 21, Raju was returning to his room along with other co-workers in the bus of the company after his duty hour. Unfortunately, the bus met with an accident following which he was rushed to the local hospital for treatment. However, his health condition deteriorated further as he has sustained grievous injuries on his brain and has some heart problems.
The authorities of the concerned company, however, allegedly did not share any information regarding Raju’s accident to his family members. They came know about his health condition only from another Odia worker, who is a colleague of Raju.
Meanwhile, Raju’s family members are in a state of shock and sadness as his health condition has worsened and he is in coma. With eyes full of tears, they have started to fast and pray for his speedy recovery.
The locals, on the other hand, requested the district administration and Odisha government to bring Raju back to Odisha and provide him treatment.
