Minimata’s contribution in building an egalitarian society cannot be forgotten- Chief Minister Baghel

Raipur: Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel attended the “Pratibha Samman Samaroh” organized on the occasion of Minimata Memorial Day at Shaheed Smarak Bhawan in capital city Raipur today. The program was organized under the joint aegies of Guru Ghasidas Literature and Culture Academy, Rajshree Sadbhavna Samiti and Samast Satnami Samaj Raipur.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Baghel announced that a model Jaitkham will be constructed in every development block populated with people of Satnami community. He also felicitated 11 women of Satnami community for their excellent work in the direction of social upliftment. Baghel administered the oath of allegiance to the office and duty to the newly elected members of the Guru Ghasidas Sahitya Evam Sanskriti Academy. He also released the published literature of the Academy, at the programme.

Paying tribute to the former MP Minimata ji on her death anniversary, Chief Minister Baghel said that her contribution in building an egalitarian society free from exploitation, discrimination and atrocities will always be remembered. She worked hard for the progress and reformation of the society. Minimata was the first woman of Chhattisgarh to become a Member of Parliament. From 1952 to 1972, she was a Member of Parliament from Sarangarh, Mahasamund and Janjgir. Her social works and the efforts for social upliftment got further intensified with the commencement of her political career. With the power of democracy and the constitution on her side, her determination to eradicate the social evils and anomalies further strengthened. Minimata ji’s contribution in getting the Untouchability Prevention Bill passed in the Lok Sabha, her efforts to empower women and to ensure labor welfare can never be forgotten. Chief Minister Mr. Baghel said that Minimata envisioned an inclusive egalitarian society, and for the last four and a half years, we have been diligently working towards building Chhattisgarh as envisioned by Minimata ji.

In his address to the program, Urban Administration Minister Dr. Shivkumar Dahria said that Minimata’s entire life was devoted to the welfare of the exploited and deprived people of the society. On this occasion, Dr. Mahant Ramsunder Das, Chairman of the State Gau Seva Commission, K.P. Khande, Patron Mrs. Shakun Dahria and people of Satnami community were present in large numbers.
