Minister of State Chandrashekhar will visit Mizoram tomorrow

New Delhi (ANI): Ahead of Mizoram Assembly elections, Union Minister of State for Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Electronics and IT Rajiv Chandrashekhar will visit the state on Thursday to hold a public meeting with representatives of the community. Union Minister of State Chandrashekhar is one of the key supporters of the BJP for the Mizoram Assembly elections to be held on November 7. The minister will hold public meetings in Saiha and Mamit districts, where he will interact with community leaders and representatives. During these public meetings, Chandrashekhar will highlight the remarkable progress made by India in the last nine years under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He will highlight India’s rapid pace towards becoming the world’s third largest economy and, importantly, highlight the untapped potential of Mizoram. The Minister will also emphasize that for the first time in the history of independent India, the Central Government has brought the North-East out of the periphery, ushering in a new era of growth and development in the region. It is noteworthy that Saiha was designated as one of the 250 most backward districts of the country by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj in 2006, which entitles it to receive funds from the Backward Regions Grant Fund (BRGF) scheme. Meanwhile, Hatchek, located in Mizoram’s Mamit district, is one of the three assembly constituencies and has the status of ‘aspirational district’. Chandrashekhar has been at the forefront in highlighting the change seen in the North-Eastern region during his previous visits. He highlighted the region’s growing attractiveness for investors and supported the accelerated development of the region’s youth. Skill training initiatives and improvement in physical and digital connectivity have played an important role in catalysing Mizoram’s potential. In the 40-member Mizoram Assembly, the Mizo National Front won 26 seats with 37.8 per cent vote share to emerge victorious in the 2018 elections. Congress won five seats and BJP won one seat. Elections will be held in Mizoram on November 7, Chhattisgarh on November 7 and 17, Madhya Pradesh on November 17, Rajasthan on November 25 and Telangana on November 30. Counting of votes in all states will take place on December 3. The Model Code of Conduct came into force with the announcement of election dates. Elections in the five states are important as they will be held a few months before the Lok Sabha elections in April-May next year.
