Miraculous Baiga raped by threatening to destroy the family, arrested
Bilaspur: In Bilaspur, a middle-aged man raped a girl by calling himself a miraculous Baiga. He claimed to heal the sick elder sister of the girl by exorcism. On this pretext, he started visiting the girl’s house. That’s why he kept having physical relations with the girl for two years by threatening to kill her family members. Fed up with his antics, the girl lodged a complaint with the police station, on which the police arrested her. The entire matter is of Sipat police station area.
Nandkumar Rohidas father Nem Singh (50), who lost in Podi, does farming. He calls himself a miracle baga and claims to cure sick people with exorcisms. The elder sister of a 25-year-old girl from Sipat area had deteriorated two years ago, for which her family had called Baiga Nandkumar for treatment. During this time he kept harassing the girl. The girl’s family told the police that during the exorcism in the year 2021, Nandkumar’s intentions had deteriorated after seeing his younger daughter. Then he got a chance and threatened the girl and said that he would destroy her family with his sadhna. During this he raped the girl. Then he continued to intimidate and physically exploit him continuously for two years.
TI Naresh Chauhan told that the girl remained scared of Baiga for a long time and continued to tolerate everything. She was afraid that if she told anything, Baiga would destroy her family. But, when she got fed up with Baiga’s actions, she somehow gathered courage and informed her family about his misdeeds. When the matter came to light, the family took the girl to Sipat police station. After recording the statement of the girl, the police registered a case of rape against the accused Baiga Nand Kumar Rohidas and arrested him.
