Mizoram Assembly Elections: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address election rally on October 30
Aizawl: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and National President J.P. Top BJP leaders including Nadda will soon join the campaign for the November 7 assembly elections in Mizoram.
BJP Mizoram state president Vanlalmuaka said that PM Modi is likely to visit the state. He will address an election rally in Mamit town on October 30 to campaign for BJP candidates. The BJP leader told news agency INS, “We have received the tentative schedule of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed visit to Mizoram. The final tour program is expected soon.”
Apart from this, he said that Amit Shah, JP Nadda, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Smriti Irani, Kiren Rijiju, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, Tripura CM Manik Saha are among the star campaigners of BJP. Kiren Rijiju, who has been appointed BJP’s election in-charge for Mizoram, has already addressed some election meetings in Mizoram.
The BJP has fielded candidates on 23 seats with special focus on areas with linguistic minority population, especially where people from the Reang and Chakma tribal communities form a fair number in the voter list.
Elections for the 40-member Mizoram Assembly will be held on November 7 and counting of votes will take place on December 3. Altogether 174 candidates, including 16 women, are in the electoral fray. The ruling Mizo National Front (MNF), main opposition Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) and Congress have fielded candidates on 40 seats each, while the Aam Aadmi Party is contesting on 4 seats and 27 independent candidates are also in the fray.
