Mizoram: Methamphetamine pills worth Rs 173.73 crore seized

Aizawl: Methamphetamine pills worth Rs 173.73 crore have been seized along the India-Myanmar border in Mizoram’s Champhai district, the Assam Rifles said in a statement on Wednesday. Acting on a tip-off, the Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police jointly made the seizure at a border crossing point in Zokhawthar on February 9, it said. It said the joint team noticed suspicious persons carrying the illicit consignment and intercepted them. However, the suspects got alerted and fled away abandoning the consignment. The consignment worth Rs 173.73 crore has been seized by the police for further investigation and legal action, the statement said.
