Modugala Pavani Ramesh Goud appointed as Choutuppal Chairperson

Modugala Pavani Ramesh Goud was elected as the Chairperson of Choutuppal Municipal Corporation and Gosika Vinay as the Vice-Chairman. The second general municipal elections were held on Monday at the local municipal office premises. Ex-officio member and local MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy along with 12 ward councilors belonging to the Congress party participated in this special meeting. In this order, Mogudala Pavani Ramesh Goud was elected as the Chairman and Gosika Vinay as the Vice-Chairman.

Congress in turmoil over chairperson election

There was a ruckus in the Congress party on Monday over the election of the Choutuppal Municipal Chairman. There was a tense atmosphere at the local municipal office for a while. Her supporters staged a large-scale protest demanding that Ward 13 Councilor Bathula Vani Biplab be given the post of Choutuppal Municipal Chairperson. Her mother-in-law, former MPTC Bathula Varalakshmi and some other family members blocked the councilors’ camp convoy. With this, Vani suddenly jumped down from the convoy and went into the public. In this sequence, her supporters were angry that MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy had betrayed Bathula Vani Biplab by trusting her. They protested against the MLA. They were outraged that the chairmanship was being given to Ramesh Goud, a non-local, and not to Battula Vani Biplab, a local woman.
