Mohali news: Water leakage stopped near Sector 65 flats
Mohali: A day after Chandigarh Tribune exposed the wastage of drinking water in a lane of Sector 65 H.I.G. houses, the Water Supply and Sanitation Department and the MC swung into action this morning and started repairing the line pipe. Chandigarh Tribune had published a news report titled “Drinking water wasted on Mohali streets” on Monday. Local residents and area councillor Kulwant Singh Kaler gathered at the spot and apprised the Water Supply and Sanitation Department and MC officials about the leakage due to road repairs.
In an application to the sub-divisional engineer of the department, the residents had said, “On May 22, a road repair machine damaged the direct line of drinking water supply in front of houses 661A and 662A in Phase XI here.” The residents further said that water supply in the area has been affected while water has been accumulating on the road for more than a fortnight due to the leakage. Residents said that drinking water was being wasted on the roads during the scorching heat and motorists were facing inconvenience due to mud on the roads.
