Moon’s minus 253 degree temperature
Moon: A new picture of India’s Chandrayaan-3 Vikram Lander sleeping on the surface of Shiv Shakti Point located on the south pole of the Moon has emerged. Chandrayaan-3’s Vikram lander has been photographed by South Korea’s Daenuri Orbiter. In this picture, Vikram Lander is visible like a small dot. South Korea’s Pathfinder Lunar Orbiter is officially known as Daenuri. This is South Korea’s first space mission outside Earth. This orbiter was sent by Elon Musk’s rocket on August 4, 2022. According to NASA, the South Korean rocket is now examining the lunar surface and identifying potential landing sites for future missions. The data being collected from this South Korean orbiter, Daenuri, will help NASA plan its Artemis mission. NASA is going to send humans to the moon through this mission. NASA intends to explore ice on the Moon and explore the possibility of establishing settlements there. Denuri Orbiter has captured the picture of Vikram Lander of India’s Chandrayaan-3. Vikram needed a ‘heater’ on the moon Due to night on the Moon, Vikram Lander is lying silently in complete darkness. The world including ISRO scientists are hopeful that Chandrayaan 3 will be awakened once again after the day begins on the Moon. ISRO scientists will try to awaken it soon.
At present the temperature on the moon has reached minus 253 degrees Celsius. Neither the Vikram lander nor the Pragyan rover are equipped with the heaters required to survive on the Moon, due to which they have to endure the harsh cold. These heaters keep providing heat inside so that the hardware installed in it keeps working. For this they use plutonium or polonium. It protects the spacecraft’s hardware and remains safe even in extreme cold. According to scientists, Vikram Lander’s chances of survival without this heater will now depend only on luck. Earlier, the Lunokhod 1 rover had been active on the Moon for 10 months and had also traveled up to 10 km. It ran on solar energy. Energy was supplied to it even at night with the help of a polonium 210 radioisotope heater. What did ISRO scientists say when Pragyan was alive? A similar heater has also been installed on China’s Rover Chang E3. Before sleeping, the battery of Chandrayaan 3’s rover Pragyan was fully charged. According to ISRO scientist Arun Sinha, there is very little possibility that Pragyan’s battery will survive and it will be able to work for the next 14 days. If this does not happen then Pragyan will remain present on the surface of the Moon as India’s messenger.
