More than 11 thousand cattle were removed from the roads, the commissioner took a meeting
Raipur. Divisional Commissioner Dr. Sanjay Alang conducted a thorough review of the action taken to remove stray cattle from the roads in Raipur division and prevent road accidents due to cattle through video conferencing today. Inspector General of Police Ratan Lal Dangi along with collectors and officers of the five districts of the division Raipur, Balodabazar-Bhatapara, Gariaband, Dhamtari and Mahasamund also participated in the meeting held through video conferencing. In the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner reviewed district-wise the action being taken to remove the accumulation of stray cattle on the main roads of the division along with national highways, roads in urban areas. Dr. Alang instructed all collectors to remove stray cattle from the roads and keep them in Gauthans, Kanji Houses or Gaushalas, as well as find a solution to the problem by talking to the villagers and cattle herders. In Raipur division, more than 11 thousand cattle have been removed from the roads in the last one week. These cattle have been kept safe in big gauthans, village kanji houses or gaushalas. A fine of more than Rs 45 thousand has also been collected from the owners of the cattle. Expressing satisfaction over the actions taken so far, the Divisional Commissioner gave instructions to all the collectors to continue the action further.
In the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner instructed the officials to activate all the Kanji houses built in the villages. He asked to ensure fodder-water as well as treatment facilities for animals in Gothans, Gaushalas and Kanji houses that keep cattle. The District Collectors said that during the arrest of stray cattle and cattle sitting on the road, radium belts are being tied around their necks to prevent road accidents caused by cattle. Along with this, tagging of animals is also being done to identify their owners, so that in future, if found sitting on the road, action can be taken by marking the owner with the animal tag. Along with this, the divisional commissioner gave instructions to speed up the work of registration of new cowsheds in the meeting. He discussed with the cattle herders at the village level and also instructed them not to leave the cattle in the open and to give maximum information about the damage caused by it.
In the meeting, Inspector General of Police, Raipur Range, Ratan Lal Dangi also asked the officers to cooperate with the policemen to make the roads free from cattle. He told that the cow’s nature is to sit in dry places, that’s why most of the cows sit on the roads during rainy days. He told the need to be more vigilant when cattle sit on the roads during rains. Mr. Dangi instructed the officers to set up a central control room to remove cattle from the roads in all the districts of the division and to make its information widely available to the general public.
