Mother and child die in private clinic, doctor absconding

Bihar. Mother and child died during treatment in a private clinic in the morning at Pakhanhiya Chowk in Palanwa police station area. Angered by the incident, family members created a ruckus alleging negligence in treatment. After the uproar, the clinic operator, doctor and other personnel fled from the back gate. The deceased has been identified as Pratima Devi (), wife of Pannalal Ram of Majhariya village of Ramgarhwa police station area. He got married one and a half years ago. The victim’s father, Dasai Ram, a resident of Paknahiya village, told that his daughter was pregnant. They took him to the doctor to be seen.

The doctor performed the operation and got the delivery done. After delivery her daughter started having pain again. On complaining of pain, the doctor inserted a needle. After this the daughter started writhing in pain and died. Palanwa police reached the spot and sent the body to Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. The family members of the deceased have not submitted the application. Palanwa police station incharge Lalan Kumar said that the body has been handed over to the family after post-mortem. FIR will be registered after receiving the application. Uproar among family members over death of mother and child Narpatganj (Araria).
