Murals of Curchorem temple damaged
Unidentified person have allegedly desecrated murals done on the outer wall of the Shri Sateri temple located near the Sarvodaya High School at Curchorem and Curchorem police have registered an
offense.
The police said that the devasthan president Babani Shet Teli has lodged a complaint that damage to two murals crafted on the outer wall of the temple has caused a loss of Rs 5,000.
Further it was found that the culprit also attempted to break the lock of the laboratory of the Sarvodaya High School, the police added.
Investigations are going on to track the culprit with the help of CCTV footage, said the police.
The temple president said that some ten years ago, the murals were damaged by some culprits.
Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral said, “After the assembly session, with the help of Curchorem PI, I will identify the spots where police-monitored CCTV cameras should be installed so that such offenses could be brought under control.”
A fingerprint expert and dog squad also visited the spot and collected required clues. PI Vaibhav Naik is investigating the case under the guidance of DySP, Quepem.
