Muslim youth dies in police encounter, family members accuse him of murder

The family called the same number several times, but got no response, so they decided to go to the hospital. Upon reaching the hospital, the family found Mateen lying on a hospital stretcher seriously injured and surrounded by police officers.

The family alleges that the police did not allow us to meet him, we were told that they would let us meet Mateen in an hour, but they did not allow us to meet him. However, at around 7:00 pm on January 17, family members were informed by the medical staff and a police constable that Mateen had died during treatment. Abrar, the father of the deceased, claims that a doctor at the hospital told him that Mateen was shot on the left side of his stomach, which destroyed his intestines and led to his death due to a failed operation.

Abrar has claimed in his complaint to the police that his son was killed by the police in a fake encounter. He was leading a normal life and was not involved in any matter. Regarding this incident, the family had filed a complaint against five police officers including Sub Inspector Atul Kumar, three head constables Akash Chaudhary, Deepak Kumar, Manjeet Singh and constable Govind Singh at Mawana police station on January 19, although the police has not yet registered an FIR.
