Mutilated bodies of four people of the same family found in the flat
Barasat/Kolkata: Decomposed bodies of four members of a family have been found in their flat in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district, police said.
The deceased have been identified as 52-year-old textile businessman Brindaban Karmakar, his wife Debashree Karmakar, aged around 40, their 17-year-old daughter Deblina and eight-year-old son Utsaha, a police officer said. ,
The bodies were found in a locked apartment on M S Mukherjee Road in Khardah area on Sunday.
Police suspect that the man killed his family members by poisoning them and then committed suicide.
His body was found hanging from the ceiling, while three other bodies were found at different places in the flat, he said.
The officer said a suicide note was also found in which the man claimed that his wife was having an extramarital affair and he could not bear it, hence he took the extreme step.
Local people informed the police about the foul smell coming from the apartment. He said, the door had to be broken because the door was locked from inside.
The officer said that a forensic team visited the spot and further investigation is underway.
