Mysuru Dasara: Heritage city to host ‘Jamboo Savari’ today
Mysuru: The City of Palaces is all set to host the ‘Jamboo Savari’, the finale of the 10-day Nada Habba Dasara festivities, at Mysuru Palace, in Mysuru, on Tuesday, October 24.
Around five lakh people are expected to witness the grand finale of Jamboo Savari, which begins from Mysuru Palace and culminates at Bannimantap covering around 5.5 km.
The 10-day festivities began on October 15 and ends on October 24. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will offer puja to the ‘Nandi Dhwaja’ during the auspicious ‘Makara Lagna’ between 1.46 pm and 2.08 pm, near the Balarama Gate of the Palace.
Later, he will offer floral tributes to the idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari mounted on the golden howdah, atop lead elephant Abhimanyu between 4.40 and 5 pm, during the auspicious ‘Meena Lagna’.
More than 49 tableaux and 95 cultural troupes will participate in the procession. Seating arrangements have been made for around 25,000 people on the Palace premises to witness the Vijayadashami procession.
The torchlight parade, another attraction of Mysuru Dasara, will be held at Bannimantap ground at 7 pm. Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot will receive the guard of honour.
Police department has made elaborate security arrangements right from the Palace to the Bannimantap grounds. More than 6,000 personnel have been deployed for Dasara duty, to ensure that the festival concludes in a peaceful manner.
