Nahan: Sirmaur NCC cadet selected for Everest expedition

Nahan: A wave of pride and happiness has swept across the hilly areas of Sirmaur, especially the remote village of Gattadhar in Sangrah subdivision. Kritika Sharma, a resident of this village, has achieved an extraordinary feat that has put her on the global map. Young and energetic Kritika has been selected to climb the world’s highest peak Mount Everest. Kritika, a BA second year student at Sri Guru Gobind Singh Government College, Paonta Sahib, has made the entire region proud with this remarkable achievement. Out of hundreds of cadets from across the country, only 60 have been selected for this prestigious expedition.
Her journey to this selection was no small feat – after excelling in the rigorous trials held in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh, Kritika secured her place in the final four NCC cadets selected for the expedition. She then faced the final test at the NCC headquarters in Delhi, where her determination and skills earned her a place in the Everest team. She is not only a mountaineer but also an accomplished Kabaddi player who has won medals at the national level.

Kritika is the only NCC girl cadet from Himachal Pradesh to be selected for the expedition, making her an inspiration for countless other students. The expedition is scheduled to begin on September 29 and Kritika is all set to scale the world’s highest peak. College principal Dr Vaibhav Kumar Shukla congratulated Kritika and her NCC in-charge Pooja Bhati for this significant achievement. Kritika’s parents are extremely happy with their daughter’s success. Her father Bharat Sharma, who is a skilled artist and is known for his intricate wood carvings, said, “My daughter’s hard work and leadership has taken her to the top of the world.”
