Mumbai: Temperature drops to 22 degrees Celsius, AQI close to 200

Maharashtra: Air quality in Mumbai remained poor on Saturday morning as pollution levels exceeded safe limits, pushing the city into the unhealthy category. Despite clear skies and mild winter temperatures, air quality deteriorated, raising concerns among health experts and the public.
As of 8:54 am on January 11, Mumbai recorded an Air Quality Index of 191 under the US AQI system, placing the air in the unhealthy category. Fine particulate matter emerged as the main pollutant, with PM2.5 levels reaching 111 micrograms per cubic meter, more than four times the recommended safe limit. PM10 levels also increased to 137 micrograms per cubic meter, indicating a higher presence of coarse dust particles in the air.
