Naxalite carrying reward of Rs 14 lakhs was killed
Rajnandgaon: On the basis of concrete information, Balaghat police deployed in Naxal front has killed a hardcore Naxalite on Friday morning. The Naxalite killed by the police was wanted in three states Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. There was a reward of Rs 14 lakh on him. The said Naxalite, resident of Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, was wanted by the police for a long time.
According to the information received, after the news of the presence of Naxalites in Kodapar forest of Songudda area of Birsa police station area of Balaghat, a patrolling team of Hawkforce and Balaghat police personnel left for searching. Today at around 8 am, Naxalites started firing on the police party. Security forces also retaliated. There was an hour long firing from both sides. After the encounter, when the incident site was inspected, a dead body of a Naxalite was found. A three-not-three gun was also recovered by the soldiers from the spot. The killed Naxalite has been identified as Kamlu. He is a resident of Bijapur, Chhattisgarh. A reward of Rs 14 lakh is also declared on him.
In this regard, Balaghat Range IG Sanjay Singh confirmed the encounter and said that Tamil Hardcore Naxalite Kamlu has been killed in an encounter by the police in Malajkhand Dalam. There is also information about some Naxalites being injured. Meanwhile, after the encounter on the border of Chhattisgarh, high alert has been put on the border. Balaghat Police has killed 9 Naxalites so far in the last one and a half year. At the same time, the police has proved its mettle in many encounters with Naxalites.
