Naxalite militia deputy commander arrested in murder case

Narayanpur. District force and DRG teams on Monday arrested a Naxalite militia deputy implicated in a murder case and sent him to judicial custody. During the anti-Naxal operation in the district, information was received from informers that Naxalite Shankar alias Burke alias Krishna Podiyam, who was involved in the murder of Komal Manji, has been seen in Maksoli village area. Based on the information, a district unit and a DRG team from Chetdongal police station were sent for the operation. During the operation, Militia Deputy Commander of Batuda village, Shankar alias Burke alias Maksoli, resident of Krishna Podiyam, was arrested by Nelnar Naxalite District Committee from Maksoli village.

According to the police, Naxalite militia Deputy Shankar alias Borko alias Krishna Podiyam, along with his fellow Naxalites, had attempted to murder Komal Manji, resident of Tarvathapra, on December 9, 2023. A complaint regarding involvement in this incident was lodged at Chetdongal police station. In this case, Shankar alias Burke alias Krishna Podiyam was arrested and a case was registered at Chetdongal police station, after which a crime was registered on Monday and he was produced in the court on remand.
