Nearly 80 percent of Afghans do not have access to drinking water: UNDP

Kabul. According to a report by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Afghanistan, about 80 percent of the country’s population does not have access to drinking water. According to the report of Xinhua news agency, the report states that severe drought conditions, economic instability And the devastating impact of the prolonged conflict has significantly weakened Afghanistan’s water infrastructure.
It said the crisis disproportionately affects women, who face greater barriers to accessing public water facilities, putting them at increased risk.
Land-locked Afghanistan is facing a severe drought crisis. The Afghan government is building small dams, water supply networks, and water canals across the country to improve and store groundwater.
