NHRCCB stresses need for upgrading emergency fire service
JAMUGURIHAT: The National Human Rights and Crime Control Bureau (NHRCCB) Assam had sent letters to the Chief Minister and Governor regarding the need for upgradation of the emergency fire service to enhance its efficiency, stated a press release issued by the state media officer of the organization, Mrinmay Kumar Nath.
In the two letters, Nishant Thard, the president of the National Human Rights and Crime Control Bureau, Assam said that it is essential to ensure a clean, healthy and safe environment for performing entrusted works of the Fire and Emergency Services Department. The organization intended to draw the attention of the Chief Minister and the Governor to the issue of upgrading the old structures of this department in Assam. It is undeniable that the safety of citizens is of utmost importance to the fire emergency department and the provision of modern infrastructure and equipment is especially essential for the department to perform its duties effectively.
At present, it is very difficult to extinguish fire or provide emergency services using water with the large-size vehicles of the department, especially in densely-populated urban areas. In many cases, the use of these equipment becomes a barrier to the success of firefighting and rescue operations with old-fashioned systems.
The National Bureau of Human Rights and Crime Control, Assam considers it urgent to allocate some budget to the government for this work. The organization also hopes that the financial assistance will play an important role in upgrading this department with the use of modern equipment, which will enable the department to move forward as per the need of the hour.
