Nine couples tied the knot in a mass marriage ceremony in Bishwanath
Biswanath: Nine couples tied the knot in a mass wedding ceremony in Assam’s Biswanath district on Sunday. The mass marriage was organized in Bamgaon village of Biswanath district. According to reports, the villagers had organized the mass marriage ceremony to help the economically weaker section of the society. Thousands of people witnessed the traditional Assamese ritual at the ceremony. Last month, the Nalbari district administration of Assam had organized a mass marriage program “Shubh Parinay” at Sri Sri Hari Temple in Nalbari town.
10 couples from Nalbari district got married in the programme. The event also included traditional wedding-time games as well as wedding rituals played by couples, in addition to time-honored marital and family rituals. Thousands of people from different parts of Lower Assam district witnessed the traditional Assamese mass marriage ceremony. Assam Tourism Minister Jayant Malla Barua, District Commissioner Vernali Deka and other eminent personalities were also present on the occasion and gave their blessings to the newlyweds.
