NIT Warangal hosts the 68th edition of ISTAM 2023
Hanamkonda: The 68th edition of the Indian Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (ISTAM) began with a three-day academic show on Thursday at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Warangal. Organized jointly by the Departments of Mathematics, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering of NIT Warangal in collaboration with ISTAM based at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, the conference brought together esteemed delegates, researchers and academicians from across the world. Dr. M.V. Deep Ocean Mission Project Director Raman Murthy, who was the invited principal, highlighted the challenges faced by climate change and their impacts on global security of water, food and energy. Professor Subudhi warmly welcomed the delegates, expressing the Institute’s pleasure to host the event and looking forward to the rich academic debate. ISAM President, Professor Shivakumar outlined the fundamental principles of the society, highlighting its role in promoting research in science and engineering, with particular emphasis on interdisciplinary studies in applied mechanics within the country. This edition marks the 68th meeting of the Conference and reflects its enduring commitment to the advancement of scientific research. Professor H P Rani, Organizing Secretary of ISTAM 2023, acknowledged the support of the sponsors and gave a general overview of the conference, setting the tone for the days to come. Director of NIT Warangal, Prof. Bidyadhar Subuddhi was the guest of honor during the inaugural session and more than 210 professors and researchers participated in the inaugural session.
