NMC approves 2 colleges for MBBS
Raipur. The National Medical Commission has approved the increased 50 seats in Nehru Medical College, Raipur. And Ambikapur has also got approval for 125 seats for the new session. Before this Mahasamund, Korba, Kanker, Raigarh have got recognition in government colleges. And in private there will be admission on 150-150 seats in Balaji and RIMS College Raipur. Jagdalpur, Durg and Bilaspur are waiting for NMC’s letter for recognition renewal. Whereas Rajnandgaon College has already got recognition.
There are a total of 2020 MBBS seats in the state, out of which 705 seats are yet to be recognized. According to the officials of the DME office, there is every hope of getting recognition of these colleges before the state quota counseling. With the recognition of 50 additional seats in Nehru Medical College, the number of seats there has increased to 230. If additional seats of EWS are found then there is a possibility of admission on 250 seats in this session. NMC has released the schedule for counseling for All India Quota. And the date for the state has not been decided yet.
Admission in BDS will also be from NEET UG qualified students like MBBS. That’s why the counseling of MBBS and BDS goes on simultaneously. Officials of the DME office say that the counseling of MBBS-BDS is to be common, but till now the guidelines of NMC have not come in this regard. However, the officials are assuming that if there is no common counselling, then preparations are being made at the state level. For this a counseling committee has been constituted.
82 percent seats will be filled by local students
Out of 1570 seats in 10 government medical colleges of the state, 82 percent seats are of state quota. It will be filled from the students who are the natives of Chhattisgarh. And 15% seats are reserved for All India Quota. If the NEET score of the students is good, then local students can also get admission in this by getting selected from All India Quota. 3 percent of the seats are of the central bridge, which is filled by the central government. In this admission is given to the children of families affected by terrorism or extremism. In private colleges, 42.5-42.5 percent seats are of state and management quota. And 15% seats are reserved for NRI students. There are 66 seats under this in three private colleges of the state.
