Not me, acting chose me and I fell in love with it: Genelia
New Delhi (IANS). Genelia Deshmukh, one of Bollywood’s most loved actresses has had a two decade long journey in the acting world, which she says she didn’t choose acting but acting chose her.

Reminiscing her journey in the world of cinema, the 35-year-old actress said that she fell in love with acting later.
“I think my journey has been amazing because acting was not a career that I chose. Rather, it chose me. Later I fell in love with it,” Genelia told IANS.

Genelia, who is gearing up for the release of her upcoming film ‘Trial Period’, was last seen on screen in Hindi film ‘Mr Mummy’ and ‘Ved’, which released in 2022. Prior to this, she was in the 2016 film ‘Force 2’.
Will she be active on screen now?
Responding to this question, the actress said, “Initially, when I did films, I used to plan for the whole year. But now, I feel when I do a film, it means taking time out from kids, doing many films and much more. I rarely choose projects. I want to do a lot more, but if it takes this long to wait, I’ll be happy to wait too.
Genelia and Ritesh got married in February 2012. The two welcomed their first son, Riaan, in 2014. Their second son Rahil was born in June 2016.
The ‘Tujhe Meri Kasam’ actress wants to focus more on family life as her children are young.
She said, “I took a break in the beginning because my kids were very young. I think I’m open to accepting more work now. There’s a lot more work that comes with what I want.”
“I believe I will do a lot more work now than I did in the last 10 years.”
Her upcoming film ‘Trial Period’ is a family drama based on the journey of a single mother Ana, played by Genelia, whose world turns upside down when her son demands a father for a trial period of 30 days.
