The rising prices of tomatoes have been in discussion for many days, but now other vegetables are also giving a blow to inflation. In many states of the country, the prices of mangoes and special vegetables have become very expensive and the general public is not able to understand how to bear the brunt of this inflation. In many states, everyday vegetables are also available at such high prices that it has become a problem for the people as to which vegetable to make – so that the budget does not get spoiled.
Vegetable prices are skyrocketing in Patna
In Bihar’s capital Patna, vegetables like cauliflower and cabbage are available at the rate of Rs 60 per kg. Not only this, now states like West Bengal and Odisha are also facing an increase in the prices of vegetables. According to a report in Times of India, the prices of vegetables have been increasing in Patna since the beginning of May. Where the maximum jump has come in the rate of tomato, other vegetables are also giving rise to inflation. The prices of vegetables like cauliflower, cabbage to okra have almost doubled. Cauliflower which was Rs 40 per kg in May is now Rs 60 per kg, cabbage has increased from Rs 30-40 per kg to Rs 60 per kg. Potato and onion prices have increased from Rs 20 per kg in May to Rs 30-35 per kg in July.
Vegetables are expensive in West Bengal too
West Bengal is also named among the states where the prices of vegetables and fruits are increasing. According to the PTI report, there has been a jump of 30-35 per cent in the prices of vegetables in West Bengal. The green chilli which was Rs 150 per kg a week ago is now at the rate of Rs 300-350 per kg. At the same time, tomatoes are being sold for Rs 130-150 per kg.
Bad condition in Odisha too
In Odisha, there has been a huge jump in the prices of vegetables in the last 15 days. The rate of tomato is Rs 140-160 per kg, while the rate of green chillies is Rs 200 per kg. Ginger has become costlier to Rs 300 per kg.
People upset in Delhi
Even in Delhi’s Safal store, the price of tomato is Rs 129 per kg and the people here have stopped buying this vegetable.
What is the condition of Uttar Pradesh
Similarly, the rate of tomato has gone up to Rs 150 per kg in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh. People troubled by the rising prices of tomatoes appeal to the government that something should be done in this matter so that the general public can get relief and at least they can get daily food at the right price.
