NSUI leader accused of raping student not arrested yet
Raipur. A BBA student has filed a rape case against NSUI State Secretary Nikhil Baghel in DD Nagar police station. The police have registered a case of rape on the basis of the medical examination of the victim, but even after almost two weeks the accused has not been arrested. The victim is contacting the police to arrest the accused. The victim has met the IG-SP and senior ministers and requested for action. The victim alleges that the police station is not taking action due to political pressure. This is the reason why the hideouts of the accused are not even being raided. Regarding the incident, a 20-year-old student preparing for BBA and NEET told that one and a half month ago, she was introduced to Nikhil Baghel, a resident of Changorabhatha, on Instagram. The student used to go to Beefit gym every morning.
Nikhil also changed his gym. On February 1, he messaged on WhatsApp and started insisting on meeting. Late in the evening at 7.20, Nikhil called and asked to come there, saying that he was standing under the gym. On reaching there, he asked to come and talk to his cafe in Sundernagar. The student got influenced by his words and sat on the bike. After this Nikhil insisted on going home instead of going to the cafe. Took her home and said, “Mummy is at home, you go inside.” Then Nikhil came inside the kitchen to make tea. During this time she said that mother must be coming, she has gone to buy wedding clothes. After this he took her to the bedroom and raped her. Nikhil promised to marry later. After some time he left back near the gym and went away.
A case was registered against the doctor last year. In June last year, the victim student had registered a case of rape against Ritesh Kumar, a doctor of a private hospital, in Tikrapara police station. Purani Basti CSP Rajesh Chaudhary said that the matter is being investigated. The accused will be arrested only after investigation. The victim termed the allegation of blackmailing as false. Accused Nikhil Baghel had given an application to the DD Nagar police station in-charge, accusing him of blackmailing the student. He says that the student called him to meet saying that there was a breakup and then proposed to marry him. When she refused, she threatened to defame him. Not only this, he made a woman call and threatened to come to his house or cafe and defame him. The victim denied these allegations, while the accused threatened her to keep her mouth shut and out of fear of his influence. The victim says that accused Nikhil may have contact with former accused Ritesh Kumar because both of them were associated with NSUI and he sexually harassed her only on the request of Ritesh. He used to call himself the nephew of former CM. According to the victim, the accused Nikhil Baghel used to call himself the nephew of former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. In many of the photos circulated on the internet media, former CM Bhupesh Baghel is seen inaugurating the cafe, while student leaders are also wishing him on his birthday by calling him the CM’s nephew.
