NSUI leader sentenced to 10 years in jail in rape case

Kanker. In a rape case registered in the district in 2022, the District and Sessions Court has sentenced the accused to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment. The court also imposed a fine of ₹1,500 on the accused. The accused was associated with the student organization NSUI at the time.
According to the prosecution, the incident was reported on November 16, 2022. After the trial concluded, the court convicted and sentenced the accused, Ruhab Memon, based on the evidence.
According to police records, the victim, a college student, stated in her complaint that the accused had taken her out in a vehicle from the Kanker area. On her return, he took her to a forested area, where she is alleged to have been raped. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case and investigated. Failure to pay the fine provides for additional imprisonment. The accused has been sent to jail as per the court order.
