Number of departure gates increased in the airport complex
Guwahati: Authorities at the popular Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport are taking steps to ensure smooth movement of passengers through the airport during the upcoming winter season. As part of the steps taken in that direction, the management has increased the number of departure gates in the airport complex.
The popular Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati has expanded the front facade of the terminal building to meet the increasing demand for space for the increasing number of passengers. Earlier, the courtyard of the terminal building was sloping which caused inconvenience to the passengers while departing, hence the airport operator Guwahati International Airport Limited has increased the number of departure gates to help the passengers easily enter the terminal building. Earlier, there were only 2 departure gates leading to congestion at the entry point. This has now been increased to 5. Officials have mentioned that all gates are expected to have both manual and digital departure facilities.
Speaking about this development, the Chief Airport Office said, “In every possible way, we are trying our best to make changes in the existing terminal building so as to reduce the inconvenience to passengers. We will have to build a new terminal soon. Our We believe that such small works will provide convenience to our passengers.*
Late last year, the popular Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati had issued an advisory requesting passengers to arrive at least three hours before the departure of their flight. The airport had issued a statement giving this advice. “International and domestic passengers traveling through our airport are advised to arrive at least 3 hours before their scheduled flight.” Frequent traffic diversions and road congestion due to increased movement of VIPs and tourists in the area have been cited as reasons for the warning.
