Objectionable comment about God, now the accused will regret for the rest of his life
Valsad (Gujarat): The legal proceedings originated from Valsad, Gujarat, involving an individual affiliated with the Muslim community who shared a picture of Hindu deity Lord Ganesha on Facebook. Alongside the image, this person, identified as Azad Riazuddin Ansari, made derogatory remarks about Lord Ganesha. As a consequence, the court has delivered a stringent penalty to Azad Ansari, a 34-year-old resident of Shalimar Apartment, sentencing him to three years of imprisonment. Additionally, he has been fined fifty thousand rupees. The Additional Judicial Magistrate Court imposed this verdict, as reported by a news outlet.
In 2018, Azad Ansari posted the contentious picture and accompanied it with objectionable and offensive comments, causing widespread disapproval. Members of Hindu organizations expressed their dissent, even resorting to an act of protest by garlanding him with shoes.
Subsequently, a legal case was filed against Azad Ansari for his inappropriate portrayal of Lord Ganesha. After a judicial process spanning from the incident in 2018 to November 2023, the court passed its judgment, sentencing the accused to three years’ imprisonment and a monetary fine.
