Odisha Cabinet approves Rs 481.94 crore for revival of crops

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Cabinet today approved Rs 481.94 crore for revival of forgotten crops of the state. Rupee. An amount of Rs 481.94 crore has been sanctioned for the implementation of the scheme “Intensified Farming Program including Revival of Forgotten Crops and Sustainable Intensification under the Crop Diversification Programme-State Scheme-3591” for the next five years.

The scheme will be implemented in a more scientific and progressive manner, now envisaging ease in increasing the area, production and productivity of pulses, oilseeds, fiber crops (cotton and jute) and maize. It will strengthen the Farmer Producer Organisation, WSHGs and FIGs for aggregation, marketing and seed rerolling in the state and enhance their economic standards with huge benefits.

The scheme includes “Mukhya Mantri Maize Mission (MMM)”, which is proposed to increase the production and productivity of maize and improve the value chain of maize marketing.

This will provide ample scope for employment generation in rural areas and increase in income of farmers in agriculture and allied sectors in the state. The potential of the state under agriculture and allied sectors will be harnessed.

This will result in rapid modernization of the agricultural sector so that farmers will be able to adopt new agricultural technologies in their areas.
