Odisha CM approves Madhu Babu pension for 4.13 lakh people
Bhubaneswar (IANS). Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has approved Madhu Babu Pension for additional 4.13 applicants in one go.
Taking into consideration the complaints received during the visits of the officials of the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) to the districts across the state and the feedback received from the ‘Mo Sarkar’, the Chief Minister approved the Social Security Scheme-Madhu Babu Pension Yojana (MBPY).
Along with this, the target of Madhu Babu Pension Yojana has been increased to 32.75 lakhs. Earlier 28.61 lakh beneficiaries were getting benefits under this scheme.
Official sources said that all the newly approved beneficiaries will get their first pension amount on August 15, 2023, i.e. Jan Sewa Diwas, in the presence of elected representatives at Gram Panchayat headquarters or ward offices.
All the collectors have been advised to ensure smooth disbursement of pension to the beneficiaries in camp mode, the source said.
It may be noted that the state government provides social security pension of Rs 500, Rs 700 and Rs 900 per month to 28.61 lakh beneficiaries under MBPY.
Old age, widows, disabled, unmarried women, cured leprosy patients, AIDS patients, divorcees/destitutes, transgender persons, orphan children from Covid affected families and other vulnerable people are covered under this scheme.
Under MBPY, between the age of 0-79 years, different categories of beneficiaries get a pension of Rs 500 per month, while beneficiaries aged 80 years and above get Rs 700 per month.
Similarly, beneficiaries with 40-59 per cent disability get Rs 500 per month and Rs 700 per month for beneficiaries with 60 per cent and above disability.
Apart from this, beneficiaries with 60 percent and above disability and 80 years and above get Rs 900 per month under the scheme.
