Odisha: Heavy rainfall in state for next 2 days, yellow warning issued to 17 districts
Bhubaneswar: Intensity of rain in Odisha is likely to increase from today. Heavy rain in Odisha is expected in next two days. Several areas across the state are expected to experience lightning and thunderstorm in the next two days.
21 districts are likely to experience lightning and thunderstorm today. Nine districts have been issued a yellow warning in view of heavy to very heavy rainfall today. These districts include Balangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Angul, Cuttack, Khordha, and Puri.
Additionally, the meteorological department has issued a yellow warning to eight districts in view of very heavy rainfall tomorrow. Rain in Odisha is likely to intensify further tomorrow.
The current monsoon season in Odisha has recorded an average rainfall of 743.8 mm. This lies about 10 percent less than the expected average rainfall of 822.9 mm. So far, only one district has recorded excessive rainfall. While 18 districts have reported average rainfall, 11 districts have experienced a scarcity in rainfall.
