AIIMS, Bhubaneswar Superintendent Dilip Kumar Parida said, “All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhubaneswar had received a total of 162 bodies in two phases, out of which 133 bodies have been handed over to their relatives and family members.”
Out of the total 81 unidentified bodies, the national institute has sent 52 bodies to their families, he said.
“Due to multiple claimants and some other issues, the bodies and 103 DNA samples of the claimants were sent to New Delhi for matching. After matching the DNA samples, the bodies were handed over to the respective family members with the help of the Railways,” Parida said. Has gone.” ,
He said that 29 unidentified bodies have been kept at AIIMS, Bhubaneswar. The report of the final phase of DNA sampling is expected in a week. The Center and the Odisha government will decide what to do with the bodies that remain unclaimed after the final stage DNA reports.
